Crista Kende Bergendahl (on leave)

Member of the viola section since 2022.

Crista Kende Bergendahl is from New York and received her Master’s degree in Music Performance from The Juilliard School and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History as well as a Certificate in Music Performance from Princeton University. Her principal viola teachers have included Eugene Becker, Heidi Castleman and Misha Amory.

Before joining the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, she was Assistant Principal Viola in the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra. She has worked extensively with many of Sweden’s leading ensembles, including the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Swedish Chamber Orchestra, the Gothenburg Opera Orchestra and Västerås Sinfonietta.

Crista Kende Bergendahl has appeared as a soloist with the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, the Princeton University Orchestra and the Juilliard Pre-College Chamber Orchestra. She was also a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra and the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra for several summers.

As a board member of a New York–based charitable foundation, Kende Bergendahl supports arts organisations committed to early arts education, new music and diversity in the field of classical music.
